Albert RANDELL 1864

Albert Randell was the third child born in the marriage of James Randell and Emily Lane. He was baptised 4 September 1864 in North Walsham. In the Birth Register he was transcribed as Elbart Randell born in Erpingham, Norfolk. Needless to say he was the only person in England and Wales ever called Elbart.
He appeared in the 1871 census living with his parents in North Walsham. Ten years later the address of the family was confirmed as Norwich Road, North Walsham and in that same census Albert is employed as a Grocers Apprentice.
The record show that Albert Randell married Emma Susan Smith in the July quarter of 1887 in Norwich.
By 1891 Albert and his bride Emma were living in Cutlers Lane, Harleston, South Norfolk, an area which would now be considered Suffolk. Albert was a Grocers Assistant and the couple had two children, Percival, born 1888 and Arnold a year later.
Ten years later in 1901 the family has moved to seemingly enhance the career prospects of Albert, who has progressed to be a Grocery Manager. He was recorded as a worker and the family live in The Street, Costessey, a village on the present western fringes of Norwich.
Albert Randell outlived Emma by seven years and was buried 27 February 1948 in North Walsham.

Emma Susan SMITH 1864

I know that Albert Randell married Emma Susan Smith in the July quarter of 1887 and that once married, she consistently recorded her name as Emma and her place and year of birth as Hampstead, Middlesex, 1864. Unfortunately after that there are several possible options for Emma Smith born around that time and location.
Once married she became the second Emma Randell in the family. Albert's brother Herbert had married Emma Davison two years earlier.
Albert Randell and Emma Susan Smith had two children, Percival and Arnold.
Percival the eldest was born around February 1888 and may have married Kitty Edwards in 1915 in Eastbourne. In turn Kitty and Percival Randell had two children of their own, Vera Randell born 1917 and the significantly named Frederick Arnold Randell, born 19 Jan 1922. Frederick Arnold Randell died in 1996, age 74. He was still in Eastbourne.
Albert and Emma's younger child, Arnold was born around April 1889 in Harleston, Norfolk but remains more mysterious. I was unable to find any record to associate with him.
Emma Randell died 10 March 1941 and was buried in North Walsham to be joined by her husband seven years later.

Albert and Emma had the following children;

Percival RANDELL 1888 Harleston, Norfolk
Arnold RANDELL 1889 Harleston, Norfolk
