Hebert RANDELL 1861

Hebert Randell was the eldest son of James Randell and Emily Lane. He was the only one of their children to be born whilst the couple lived in Buxton. He was born in the April quarter of 1861. Despite being born in 1861, he doesn't appear in the census which suggests he was born after census night, 20 April 1861 but before the end of June.
In both the 1871 and 1881 census, Herbert Randell was living with his parents in Norwich Road, North Walsham. His occupation was listed as Tin Plate worker in 1881 and expanded to Brazier and Tin Plate worker, ten years later. By 1901 his job title had again been amended to Brazier - Brass.
Herbert Randell married Emma Davison in the April quarter of 1885 in the registration district of Aylsham.
Herbert and Emma appear to have married in Norfolk but immediately established a home in Maldon, Essex. They had three children who were each born in Maldon. The families first address in Maldon was 15 Silver Street and the second recorded address was 14 Fambridge Road. Both these houses still appear to stand.
It seems likely that Herbert Randell died aged 79, in the July quarter of 1940. The death of Herbert Randell was registerd in Sudbury, which takes in parts of Essex and Suffolk.

Emma DAVISON 1854

Emma Davison was born in April 1854 in Swanton Abbott, Norfolk and was the daughter of bricklayer James Davison and his wife Susanna. James died in 1870 aged only 36 years, and his widow Susannah remarried Stephen Bullimore in 1874.
In 1881 Emma lived with her younger sister Susanna Dorcas Davison in Swanton Abbott, Norfolk. The two girls were listed as dressmakers, which was an improvement from the previous census when Emma appeared to be critiqued for offering Plain Sewing. The young sisters lived in the pleasant sounding Swanton Abbott but their immediate neighbour had the dubious and rather intriging occupation of Pig Killer.
Herbert Randell married Emma Davison in 1885 and their first child, also Emma, was born later that year. They went on to have three children, called Emma, Dorcas and Herbert.
In the following years, Dorcas Randell married William AF Barnes in Jan 1928 and Herbert Randell married May Brooks in April 1928. Both marriages took place in the registration district of Hendon, Middlesex. Hebert and May Brooks had two girls both born in the 1930's. The death of Herbert Randell junior, was recorded during the Second World War. He died in Maldon, age 53 in the July quarter of 1944 only four years after his father.

Herbert and Emma had the following children:

Emma RANDELL 1885 Maldon, Essex
Dorcas RANDELL 1886 Maldon, Essex
Herbert RANDELL 1891 Maldon, Essex
